Description

The Director, Tax Planning and Accounting, will assist with all aspects of U.S. federal and state/local tax planning, including but not limited to entity integration/rationalization, repatriation strategies, loss planning, acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, deductibility of expenses, and planning with respect to new legislation. The position will assist in developing, communicating and implementing tax planning into the tax compliance and tax reporting process. Responsibility also includes preparation of the consolidated tax provision, including the footnotes in the audited financials.

Responsibilities:

Review the consolidated income tax provision and related work papers, including preparation of the tax footnote disclosures to be included in the Company's SEC filings (Forms 10-Q and 10-K) and other tax related disclosures, as well as Audit Committee materials.
Manage the submission and review process for quarterly and annual tax packages from international operations.
Prepare and analyze the quarter and annual global effective tax rate.
Assist in the measurement of and accounting for uncertain tax positions in accordance with ASC 740-10.
Analyze global tax attributes, including recommendations and supporting documentation for valuation allowances on deferred tax assets in a tax jurisdiction.
Proactively research and monitor issues and in-period changes on various complex global income tax accounting matters and related financial statement implications. Prepare technical memoranda documenting analysis and conclusions.
Manage training for the company’s ASC 740 US GAAP Income Tax Accounting process globally.
Work collaboratively with the Global Tax Director to identify opportunities to optimize the Company’s tax position while effectively managing risk.
Participate in tax planning for acquisitions, joint ventures, divestitures and restructurings including due diligence, design and implementation of structuring, financing and post-merger integration/rationalization.
Provide technical support for Federal, state and local and international research and planning activities. Assess the impact of business restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, accounting methods or pronouncements. Monitor legislative and statutory tax changes and assess potential impact to the Company. Assist in devising corporate operational changes to effectively and efficiently respond to evolving tax rules.
Perform technical tax research on various Federal, state and local and international topics. Prepare technical memoranda on complex areas of corporate, partnership, and consolidated group tax issues.
Actively participate in special projects such as section 382 studies, analyses of earnings and profits, and stock basis calculations.
Build and maintain close working relationships across various corporate and business functions throughout the organization to help facilitate timely and accurate tax reporting and execution of tax strategy.
Identify tax risk areas and work with other functional areas to ensure appropriate steps are taken to minimize tax risk.
Provide ongoing support to global and local tax groups related to tax planning.
Supervise professional staff.
Other projects and duties as required/assigned.
Qualifications:

Requires a Master’s Degree with at least 15 years of experience in the field.
Demonstrates expertise in a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Performs a variety of tasks. Leads and directs the work of others. Creativity and latitude is expected.
CPA, MST, LLM, or JD preferred.
15+ years of combined public and multi-national corporate experience.
